I was shocked though that they recently released an advertisement which I feel discriminates in an outright manner, the women struggling with their weight by releasing an ad with the visual of a woman on the heavy side and with the tagline, "Want to look better naked?".
The first time I saw it, I said, "I can't believe they actually said that!". So here I am, writing about it because it does annoy me. Some people might think, this is nothing. In this country, discrimination seems to only be a hot topic when it comes to matters of scale as large as the Bench billboards on Guadalupe where earlier this year, there was this brouhaha over a couple featured in the ads.
I know wish to state, I take offense with this ad. Though I am in excellent shape in my 40s and a few years shy of 50, I still feel for my friends who are the butt of this crass advertisement. I may be in shape now but I was once there where I could easily be the target of this ad.
Women who are overweight and obese are likely to experience frequent, daily insults and humiliation from strangers, family and friends, according to a study published in the Journal of Health Psychology by Jason Seacat, associate professor of psychology at Western New England University, in Springfield, Mass. “The heavier an individual, the more stigma they face.”
There is no better evidence to that study than this ad.
My recommendation : pull down this disgusting discriminatory ad immediately which promotes perverse values of what beauty should be and replace it with a big WE ARE SORRY.

Just like the general public, I sympathize with Maggie. But, I don't want to elaborate on the Yaya's meal incident. One can read that elsewhere on the internet. Besides, I get reminded of the Torre de Manila monstrosity behind the Rizal monument at Luneta by mere word association.
