More On Boudoir Portraiture

In the recent post about Boudoir Photography, Pinay Cougar preferred the lens of the late Toch Arellano for such a project.  Having scoured the blogosphere for a photographer to take on the task, methinks that there's a hands-down winner.  Her name is Leah A. Valle.  She is also known as the 13thwitch.

One just has to view her portfolio to see that this photographer from Davao would do well to immortalize those bedroom poses of Pinay Cougars.

All praises for the 13thwitch, Leah Valle!  The only setback now is that her studio is in Davao.  Oh well, might as well sched a trip to Davao one of these days.

As a woman I often take a self portrait boudoir and sometimes nude photography. Admit it, we ladies like to be photographed in nude or in boudoir photos but just to shy to admit it. And since most or shall I say almost all professional photographers here in the country are males. Women are often times embarrassed or if not their other half doesn't like the idea for their wives or girlfriends posing semi nude or nude infront of a male photographer with his male assistant and male lightsman in a hotel room.

I have been a professional photographer for a year handling events from weddings, christening, birthdays, debuts. But my passion lies in nude and Boudoir photography. I have done quite a lot for both Female and (believe it or not) male friends and now clients.

There will be a letter of agreement or contract to be signed by the client. To have no photos of their personal projects to be used on my advertising materials both in print and online unless clients are willing to have their photos feature in my website.

A boudoir is a lady's private bedroom, sitting room or dressing room. The term derives from the French verb bouder, meaning "to pout"

A great deal of "boudoir" is now created in the photographer's studio or in luxury hotel suites, where it has become very fashionable to create a set of sensual images for women in "boudoir style". This often takes the shape of partly clothed images or images in lingerie, and has become more than just a passing fad for brides to surprise their future husbands. Although in the past there were many negative connotations associated with boudoir photography, in recent years the trend has begun to gain momentum, and the entire look of boudoir photography has begun to change.

Bridal boudoir photography is becoming particularly popular. Brides often have an album of boudoir style photographs made as a present for their soon to be husbands. Other common themes for boudoir photography are anniversaries, birthdays, Valentine's Day, weight loss, maternity, any form of body change or alteration (breast augmentation or reduction, etc.), and for soldiers overseas.

Is a Budoir Photo Session For You?

One of the things which a Cougar must come to grips with is the fact that her body may not be in the best of shape forever.  Try as she might, the cougar is battling against age and gravity.  So with this, it comes as no surprise that more cougars are trying what may be their stab at being the model they've always wanted to be.

Enter the world of Budoir Portraiture.

Jean Garcia did it for FHM, and so did Dina Bonnevie.  While you may not really land the pages of FHM, Maxim, Uno, or Rogue, bear in mind that a budoir portrait session will be the closest to that same experience.

And why should a cougar have a budoir photo session?

Well, besides giving you an opportunity to be naked in a situation where you would normally be clothed, being photographed naked will yield a souvenir that you can use as inspiration. Even so, it should be as flattering as possible: The idea is to provide a sense of pride and possibility. As a tip, stick to black and white--it’s less distracting than color, and you’ll see fewer irregularities in skin tone--and use soft, diffused light to soften any lumps, bumps, or other imperfections on your skin.

So now that I've mentioned black and white, I am now reminded of what it was like in high school to pose before Toch Arellano.  Girl, Toch was the best!

If Toch were still alive today, I'd be sure he'd raise his eyebrows in thinking that the high school seniors of the Bagets era would make a beeline to his studio in Eisenhower St. to have budoir sessions.
